We have a number of low pressure zones, large highs and even a likely early tropical cyclone in our video forecast today.
NZ: High pressure this weekend but a low in the north means some rain will brush northern coastlines – it clears Sunday but a cooler southerly flow moves up the eastern side of NZ and the lower North Island on Sunday. Monday morning sees the chance of a frost inland for the lower South Island. Next week – more windy westerlies.
Australia: 40c+ in parts of WA, NT and inland QLD, while the south eastern states have two big lows coming with plenty of unsettled, colder, windier and wetter weather. These winds will see temperature fluctuations for NSW and ACT With next Wednesday in the 30s. QLD is settled.
Tropics: A possible/likely tropical cyclone is expected next week in northern / central Vanuatu. At the time of recording this there was no cyclone or official warnings. There is no threat to New Zealand.
*Programming Note: Monday is Labour Day in NZ. Our regular daily NZ videos return on Tuesday.

Is there a good chance that the 28th, 29th October will be warmer than the 13C forecast.

Depends on where you are referring to?

Gisborne. Hoping that system to the north will keep southerly from pushing up. Have a garden wedding so 21 to 22C would be perfect.

Hi Peter, looks like a southerly comes in on the Saturday (13c the high, maybe 14)… but westerlies on the Friday and Sunday will be milder. But a few pesky showers around – but not overly wet. Doesn’t sound ideal but also not too bad… but yes may be a little cool outside on the Saturday in particular. In the days ahead the low in the sub-tropics (currently a cyclone) may bring in some windier nor’easters. So it’s a little bit “spring like” around then with changeable directions.
Cheers

Thanks Phil. I assume you mean Saturday 28th (not 13th). We will just rug up!
