We have no videos Tuesday and Thursday of this week but the quieter weather means only a few areas have weather that may cause any issues.
FOG
For the North Island it’s calm with cold nights but fog in the mornings may cause a few travel issues here and there over the next few days. Airports like Auckland, Hamilton, Rotorua and Whangarei may have low cloud or fog this week in the mornings. RuralWeather.co.nz has NZ’s only Fog Forecaster – you can double check the fog risks for every location in NZ, anytime.
FROST
It will still be a bit frosty for inland areas next couple of nights, although windier weather will be kicking in over the days ahead from the lower North Island southwards. See our Frost Risk Maps here. See our Frost Forecaster for your specific location at RuralWeather.co.nz. Frosts reduce each night this week.
WINDS
Wellington hasn’t been its usual windy self this year, but those windy nor’westers are kicking in over the coming days. Friday may have northerly gales with gusts to 100km/h. The positive? It will blow any fog risks away from Wellington Airport. The negative? Depending on precisely how gusty those winds get, it’s possible a few smaller regional flights may be affected with delays or even cancellations.
RAIN
A few showers this week in the upper North Island but much of NZ is dry. The only area likely to receive rain over the next three days is Fiordland and south Westland. See cumulative rainfall maps here: https://www.weatherwatch.co.nz/maps-radars/rain/accumulative-rainfall
