The outlook for the rest of November looks to be a mixture of high and low pressure with rain forecast in most regions at some point.
As is often the case in spring (due to more westerlies), the western side of the country has much higher rainfall totals than those in the east, but low pressure is expected to cross NZ later this week or weekend will likely bring some wet weather into the east, with 25mm forecast for places like Rangiora in North Canterbury – which is some good news for a region that is very quickly drying out.
The West Coast and also National Park in the western central North Island are both most exposed to the highest rainfall totals for the rest of November with over 200mm still coming for the West Coast and 100 to 150mm around National Park.
Following flooding on Friday last week in Northland, northern Auckland and parts of Gisborne rainfall totals in those areas look less intense over the next week or two, generally speaking.
