Upper North Island
Lower North Island
Mostly sunny on the east coast with
some developing high cloud, light winds this morning then northwesterlies
freshen in the afternoon. A few showers spread from the west into Wairarapa this
afternoon then possibly further north in the evening. Morning sunny spells in
the west with northerlies, showers develop in the afternoon possibly heavy with
thunderstorms then clearing in the evening as winds tend westerly. Fairly cloudy
about Wellington with strong northerlies, the odd shower develops this morning
then turns to rain for a time in the afternoon, rain clears in the
evening.
Upper South Island
Rain develops this morning in Nelson,
chance of the odd heavy fall with northerly winds. A change to westerlies in the
evening sees rain clearing and the sun may even pop out for a time before dusk.
Rain on the West Coast, possibly heavy with thunderstorms then easing in the
afternoon with westerlies developing. Periods of rain about Marlborough from
this morning, heavy for a time in the afternoon then clearing in the evening as
strong northwesterlies tend more westerly. Canterbury sees a period of morning
rain clear then expect sunny spells with northwesterly winds, a few further
showers are possible in the afternoon especially south of Banks Peninsula where
winds may change to the south for a time, then clearing in the
evening.
Lower South Island
Rain, possibly heavy with
thunderstorms on the West Coast eases to showers in the afternoon as winds
change westerly. Light winds about Otago and Southland, some cloud with the odd
shower possible. South to southwesterly winds pick up in the afternoon with
showers more likely, possibly heavy with thunderstorms for some.
