New Zealand has varied weather from region to region mostly due to our large mountains and ranges which can make one region cloudy and wet, the neighbouring region hotter and drier.
A good illustration of this is the fact that Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay have frequently had hot windy days with highs in the low, even mid, 30s – but over in Taranaki and Manawatu it’s been much cooler and wetter.
In the South Island the West Coast has had one of the wettest, coolest, summers in recent memory – while over in Canterbury the heat is kicking in with fairly dry weather and highs into the low 30s.
Not everyone loves the heat – but many more prefer summer to be a least somewhat hot. So – how are you finding this Summer? Hot enough for you?
