New Poll: Is the current weather pattern exhausting you?

> From the WeatherWatch archives

2016 has a been a tough year for many and weatherwise lately it hasn’t exactly been clear skies and smooth sailing.

In fact, we’re noticing an uptick in people finding the weather (probably on top of the earthquakes) especially draining lately.

From the windy weather to the perpetual downpours – it seems some parts of New Zealand are ending spring more like how it begins with unsettled weather and a mix of cold and warm days (remember spring started off mild and calm this year with airflows from Australia’s desert!).

Because the first several months of this year were warmer than average, breaking records for the first seven months, it’s not surprising a return to more average temperatures feels like a bit of a shock to the system. (and to be honest many areas are average to above average still).

Generally speaking New Zealand is wetter than it should be for this time of year – although the next three or four days ahead see much drier, sunnier, weather finally spreading in…but it won’t last that way, it is spring afterall!

Hi WW, I am happy with our weather here in Whangarei compared with a other parts of NZ but I am getting totally fed up with the relentless westerly winds. They are blowing when I go to bed and are blowing still when I get up and so I have had enough. Mind spring over the last few years has been just the same and I cannot remember last time it did not blow. If as per last year, they will continue like this until at least mid January. They just seem to get to you with day after day the same.
