Remember – the meteorological seasons go from the 1st of the month, while the astronomical seasons go from the equinox and solstices.
The good news for many is that this year New Zealand’s three main forecasters, WeatherWatch, MetService and NIWA all agree summer will extend right through March due to the current weather pattern.
So let us know in this week’s poll – how do you grade your 2015/16 summer? Perfect, terrible or somewhere in between?

Crazy summer here in Christchurch. December was really warm and was expecting a hot January but it was absolute rubbish. Very wet and cool. February has been amazing with long spells of hot dry weather. The 3 days of 33 degree temperatures in a row were exhausting.

I also gave it an average for same reasons as the guest who commented. Majority of the summer was cool and unpleasant due to the constant Sw winds blowing relentlessly up here in the north. Only been the last month really that summer seems to have settled into what it should have been. So not the best at all.
