Thanks to a large high moving in Sunday is looking a lot calmer than yesterday.
Those sou’westers have eased significantly overnight so today will certainly feel warmer as the clouds clear and the sun finally returns without the chilly wind.
The weather forecast from the Weather Watch Centre says northern New Zealand may be in for a few showers first thing – then possibly again later this afternoon – but overall the day will be much drier and sunnier than it will be wet and cloudy.
In the South Island an approaching front and low means a return to warmer nor’westers moving up the island during the day.
Not a great deal of weather news today – so we’ll be firing up the Rain Tracker again this morning (before 8am) with updates every hour or two during daylight hours – be sure to check back regularly for updates.
