Monday’s national forecast – Still mainly settled

> From the WeatherWatch archives

High pressure still covers most of New Zealand today but we do have a low descending into the Tasman Sea from the tropics and a general easterly airflow increasing in the north.

North Island

Partly cloudy skies in the east and northeast today (Wairarapa to East Cape an across to Northland). A mix of sun and high cloud elsewhere. Perhaps a fog patch or two to start the day for some inland spots. Expect easterly quarter winds in general (a little breezy Auckland northwards) and some rain moves into northern Northland from this afternoon.

South Island

A mix of sun and high cloud today although eastern regions may see more frequent areas of cloud especially morning and night, perhaps a fog patch or two to start the day inland. Winds are light tending onshore this afternoon, east to northeasterly winds a little breezy after midday along the east coast though.
