Monday’s national forecast – Northerlies develop, West Coast Rain (+11 Maps)

High pressure is slowly sliding eastwards off New Zealand and this is allowing a sub-tropical northerly quarter wind flow to move in.

After a calm few days some areas may be quite windy today, especially noticeable for those camping in tents, awnings etc.

Rain sets in to the West Coast with heavy falls the further south you go. Patchy rain spills over into Southland over the next day or so (the North Island on Wednesday – check your local forecast for expected daily rainfall accumulations.

Much of the country leans warmer than average today with humidity levels lifting in the north and west too.
