Monday’s national forecast – Cold front moves off

A westerly quarter airflow lies over the country today with a cold front pushing off the North Island first thing this morning away to the northeast.

North Island

A mix of sun and cloud in the west with any early showers clearing away, the odd shower moves back in again from midday, winds from the southwest. Rain in the east clears this morning from the south then becoming mostly sunny with southwesterlies dying away. Mostly sunny for Wellington with northerlies.

South Island

Showers for the West Coast, rain about South Westland, west to southwesterly winds. Rain or showers for Southland with northwesterlies, gusty about the coast. Otago is sunnier in the north, some cloud for southern parts of the region. In the east expect mainly sunny weather with a touch of high cloud, winds from the northwest, perhaps a little breezy inland. Nelson is sunny with westerlies.
