A front sweeps northwards over the South Island today in a northwesterly airflow. This results in high cloud and mainly dry weather out east, rain falls on the West Coast. For the North Island a ridge of high pressure brings mainly settled weather.
Auckland & Northland
Sunny with some cloud, a chance of some fog morning and night. Light winds.
Highs: 15-16
Bay Of Plenty
Sunny spells and some cloud, light winds tend northeast.
High: 16
Central North Island & Waikato
Sunny spells and some cloud, light winds. There could be areas of fog morning and again overnight.
Highs: 12-15
Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with light north to northeast winds. Some high cloud later on about Wairarapa.
Highs: 15-17
Western North Island
Sunny and cloudy spells with light north to northwest winds. Risk of a drizzle patch this morning about Kapiti and northern Taranaki.
Highs: 14-15
Wellington
Cloudy periods today with brisk northerly winds. Overnight a few spots of rain move in.
High: 14
Nelson
Sunny spells and some increasing cloud, cloud thickens up especially in the evening. Overnight some rain develops. North to northwest winds.

Marlborough
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, especially later. Breezy northwesterly winds developing around midday. Some scattered rain possible overnight.
Highs: 17-18
Canterbury
High cloud with north to northwest winds, a few brief spots of late afternoon rain possible.
Highs: 15-16
West Coast
Cloudy with drizzle about North Westland and rain, heavy at times further south. Winds from the northeast. Rain develops about North Westland from midday and may become heavy. Winds tend more northerly by evening.
High: 14
Southland & Otago
Mainly cloudy with north to northeast winds. A few showers, especially around midday then clearing into the afternoon as winds tilt to the northwest. Sunny spells develop into the afternoon also.
