A brief pause in the weather today with many areas staying dry under a very weak ridge of high pressure. Showers still affect the West Coast of the South Island however and northern parts of Taranaki at times.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato
Sunny spells and some cloud with light winds tending northwest, there may be the odd brief light shower about Auckland and Northland otherwise mainly dry. At night a few showers slip down the east coast of Northland and Auckland. A few areas of fog could develop about the Waikato at night also.

Central North Island & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny with light winds, could be some fog develop at night mainly inland.
Highs: 15-19

Eastern North Island
Sunny with some cloud, light winds tend northeast in the afternoon.
High: 17

Marlborough, Nelson, Wellington & Western North Island
Sunny spells and some cloud, light winds tending northerly in the afternoon about the capital. About northern Taranaki expect cloudy periods and the odd shower at times.
Highs: 15-17

Canterbury
Mostly cloudy today although a few afternoon sunny spells break through, light east to northeast breezs.
Highs: 13-14

West Coast
Isolated showers, even the odd sunny spell possible. Northeasterly breezes.
Highs: 15-16

Southland & Otago
Mostly cloudy with light winds, chance of a drizzle patch now and then otherwise mainly dry. Drizzle becoming widespread about coastal Otago at night.
Highs: 12-13
