A low pressure system just west of the South Island continues to churn a few fronts over the country today, many places are likely to recieve some rain at some point with heavy falls possible mainly this morning for the North Island and upper South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato, CNI & BOP
Rain this morning possibly heavy then easing to showers by late morning. Northerlies change more westerly around midday. Sunny spells after midday also.
Highs: 17-21

Eastern North Island
Some morning rain then clearing in the aftenroon with sunny areas increasing. Northeasterly winds ease later in the day.
Highs: 21-23

Western North Island
Some rain with heavy falls at times about and north of Taranaki, south of Taranaki expect drier conditions with the odd shower now and then. Widespread showers in the evening as northerlies tend more northwest.
Highs: 18-20

Wellington
Cloudy with the odd shower, northerly breezes tend more northwest later in the day.
Highs: 18-19

Nelson
Periods of rain, heavy at times with a chance of a thunderstorm. Rain eases late afternoon as northerlies tend more northwest.
Highs: 18-19

Marlborough
Some rain possibly heavy at times, northerly winds. Rain clears late afternoon or evening with winds becoming light.
Highs: 18-19

Canterbury
Mostly cloudy with southerly quarter winds, some rain moves into Mid and South Canterbury around midday then clears later in the evening. Mainly dry elsewhere although there may be a brief shower or two in the afternoon.
Highs: 15-16

West Coast
Periods of rain heavy for a time early afternoon, northeasterly winds at first then tending westerly late afternoon.
High: 16-17

Southland & Otago
Cloudy with some rain at times mainly afternoon then easing later in the evening. Light winds from the southerly quarter.
Highs: 13-15
