Upper North Island

Cloudy areas with some sun mainly during the afternoon, breezy westerly winds. Weather will be mostly sunny about the Bay Of Plenty during the day apart from evening cloud, winds will be westerly there also. The odd light shower develops overnight in most places as winds tend more southwest. Sunny with some high cloud at first in Gisborne with light winds, winds tend light southerly around midday then northeast during the afternoon with areas of cloud but still sunny areas about.
HIGHS: 20-21 for most. 23-25 about Bay Of Plenty and Gisborne.

Lower North Island

Breezy westerly winds tending more northwest about the Kapiti Coast and Wellington, expect mostly cloudy skies with a few sunny breaks during the afternoon especially about Wellington and the CNI. Expect the odd shower about the Tararua Ranges becoming a bit more widespread late evening in the west as winds tend more southwest. High cloud at first in Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay with northwesterlies, winds tend light southerly mid morning then northeast during the afternoon with areas of cloud but still sunny areas about.
HIGHS: Temperatures in the high teens in the west. Low 20’s about the Central North Island. 24-25 about Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay.

Upper South Island

Cloudy skies on the West Coast north of Hokitika with northwesterlies, expect the odd shower mainly in North Westland then easing during the afternoon as winds change southwest. Mostly sunny about Nelson with light winds picking up a little from the west late afternoon. Southwesterly breezes ease off about Canterbury and Marlborough this morning, northeasterlies freshen up especially along the coast this afternoon. Expect sunny weather in Marlborough, some cloud at times in Canterbury. Later in the evening light southerlies flick through Canterbury bringing some further cloud and the low risk of a shower.
HIGHS: 17 on the West Coast, low 20’s in Nelson. 18-19 in Canterbury. 23-24 in Marlborough

Lower South Island

Becoming mostly sunny this morning with westerly breezes, some cloud developing about Southland during the afternoon with westerlies strengthening possibly gusting to gale force about the coast in the evening. Becoming mostly sunny about Fiordland this morning with southwest breezes, some cloud increasing overnight however. Morning showers ease then gradually clear about South Westland, sunny breaks there in the afternoon with southwest breezes.
HIGHS: 16-17 for most , 21-22 for inland Otago, 15 on the West Coast south of the Glaciers.
