A large anticyclone covers New Zealand today, this will result in a mainly settled day.

North Island

Expect mostly sunny weather, some cloud may be a little more frequent for the upper North Island during the day. Some low cloud possible first thing for inland areas then breaking. Late afternoon / evening cloud builds a little about some inland areas and this may result in an isolated shower or two. Winds will be light then expect afternoon sea breezes. Afternoon high’s in the low to mid twenties for most although some coastal parts may only get into the high teens.

South Island

Mostly sunny, just a few scraps of high cloud during the day. Winds are light this morning then expect afternoon onshore winds, the east to northeast breeze about coastal Canterbury may feel a little fresh in the afternoon. Afternoon temperatures ranging from the low to mid twenties for most, some coastal parts may only see temperatures in the high teens.
