A low pressure system moves from west to east over the North Island today while a cold south to southwesterly airflow lies over the South Island, spreading over the North Island as the day moves along.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Showers and sunny spells, showers may be heavy then easing in the evening as southwesterly winds freshen. There may be a touch of fog to start the day about the Waikato and inland Bay Of Plenty.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Areas of cloud, risk of a shower with light winds. Cloud builds a little in the afternoon with showers becoming more frequent for a time before clearing in the evening.
Highs: 12-15

Eastern North Island
Areas of cloud, risk of a shower with light winds. Cloud builds a little late afternoon with showers becoming more frequent for a time before clearing later in the evening.
Highs: 13-15

Wellington
Mostly cloudy with a shower or two, southerlies freshen from morning.
High: 11

Marlborough & Nelson
A mix of sun and cloud, perhaps a shower or two also. Cloud thickens about eastern Marlborough in the afternoon bringing a chance of drizzle.
Highs: 13-14

Canterbury
Morning cloud with the chance of a shower or drizzle patch, cloud breaking away late afternoon or evening. Cool south to southwesterly winds.
High: 11

West Coast
Mainly sunny with light winds.
Highs: 13-14

Southland & Otago
Morning showers clear then breaking to some sun, showers move in again overnight with a cold southwest change.
Highs: 9-11
