Weak anticyclonic conditions over New Zealand today bring mainly settled weather, meanwhile a big low sits off to the northeast of the North Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

High cloud breaking away this afternoon. There may be a shower or two about eastern Northland, Great Barrier Island and the Coromandel which clears this afternoon. South to southwesterly winds, tending more southeast about the Bay Of Plenty.
Highs: 20-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny after morning cloud breaks away, light southeasterly winds.
High: 19

Eastern North Island

Thick high cloud, a few showers about Gisborne spread into the Hawkes Bay this afternoon then into the Wairarapa later this evening or overnight. Light winds tend south to southeast.
Highs: 17-19

Wellington

Sunny spells, southerly winds develop late morning. Chance of an afternoon shower otherwise mainly dry.
High: 16

Marlborough & Nelson

Mainly sunny with light winds tending easterly this afternoon about Marlborough. Light afternoon northerlies for Nelson.
High: 19

Canterbury

Morning fog breaks to mostly sunny weather about North Canterbury. Cloud a little more frequent today about Mid and especially South Canterbury. South to southeasterly winds tend easterly this afternoon.
Highs: 13-15

West Coast

Mainly sunny weather with light winds, a few showers about Fiordland clear this afternoon.
Highs: 17-20

Southland & Otago

Central Otago sees cloudy areas, some sun possible this afternoon, chance of the odd shower also otherwise mainly dry. Showers ease this afternoon about coastal Otago and Southland with dry spells becoming more frequent, mostly cloudy. Southeasterly winds may tend easterly this afternoon.
