A ridge covers New Zealand on Monday extending out from a high east of the country, within this ridge is a northeasterly airflow and two frontal features. One bringing a few showers to some northeastern parts of the North Island and another bringing rain to South Westland.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

A mix of sun and cloud about Auckland and the Waikato. Cloud a little more persistent about the Coromandel and Bay Of Plenty bringing the risk of a shower or two. Northland sees cloudy areas this morning with a few showers (mainly in the east) then breaking to sunny spells this afternoon. East to northeasterly winds.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mainly sunny with light winds. Some cloud may venture into the Central North Island this afternoon with the risk of a shower, mainly about and northeast of the Lake Taupo area.
Highs: 20-22

Eastern North Island

Morning cloud breaks away then mostly sunny, cloud may hang about Gisborne for much of today with a few showers especially this morning. Light northeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-21

Wellington

Mainly sunny with light northerly winds.
High: 19

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny with light northerlies.
Highs: 19-22

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud, light east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 17-19

West Coast

Cloudy about South Westland with a few showers then turning to rain this morning, a few heavy falls possible about Fiordland. North Westland sees sunny spells. Northeasterlies.
Highs: 17-20

Southland & Otago

Areas of high cloud, a few spots of rain spread into Otago this afternoon then clear evening. Light north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 17-18
