High pressure for much of New Zealand today although some instability forms about the North Island this afternoon.
 
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, isolated showers this afternoon especially about inland areas possibly heavy with thunderstorms then easing later in the evening and clearing overnight. Light winds tend onshore this afternoon.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A chance of drizzle this morning, cloud breaks to a few sunny spells this afternoon. The odd shower possible this afternoon mainly inland with the chance of a heavy fall. Light winds tend onshore this afternoon.

Eastern North Island
Fairly cloudy although some sun is possible after midday, risk of a shower also mainly afternoon about the ranges. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-20
 
Wellington
Chance of a morning shower then sunny spells break through in the afternoon, north to northeasterly winds.
High: 20
 
Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly cloudy, a few sunny spells this afternoon mainly about Nelson. North to northeasterly winds.

Canterbury
Cloud breaks to sunny spells this afternoon, east to northeasterly winds becoming brisk about the coast after midday.

West Coast
Any morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, light northerlies.

Any early cloud clears then mostly sunny with some high cloud later in the day, north to northeasterly winds. Afternoon southerlies for coastal Southland.
