An anticyclone sits in the Tasman Sea while a west to southwesterly airflow flows over New Zealand. The North Island has plenty of sun, some cloud mainly in the west. For the South Island it’s dry in the north and east while the West Coast, Southland and parts of Otago see showers.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy areas and occasional sun with west to southwesterly winds, breezy this afternoon for some.
Highs: 19-22

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Sunny areas and some high cloud, westerly winds.
Highs: 18-20

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with light winds, afternoon east to northeast winds.
Highs: 22-24

Wellington

Sunny with west to northwesterly winds.
High: 18

Marlborough & Nelson
Mainly sunny with north to northwesterly winds this afternoon about Marlborough, west to southwest winds for Nelson.

Highs: 21-26

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with some high cloud from afternoon, a few spots of rain possible late afternoon or evening. Light winds tend northwest.
High: 23

West Coast

Fairly cloudy with showers, mainly about South Westland in the morning then spreading into North Westland during the afternoon. Breezy west to southwest winds.
High: 15

Southland & Otago

Showers for much of the day about Southland, more patchy about Central Otago and mainly dry for coastal Otago with cloudy areas. Brisk to strong westerly winds.
Highs: 15-19

Thank you WW for your very accurate weather forecasting, been noticing the differences between you and others and yours are the most accurate.

Like today, Met Service say sunny with some cloud whereas yours says cloudy with some sun, a big difference and yours is exactly what we have.

Am quite fed up with the constant cold SW winds, we had a boomer day Saturday with temp getting to 28 deg here in Whangarei. Sunday it all changed with a strong SW coming in and cold again.
