A west to northwesterly airflow picks up over New Zealand today. A few isolated showers possible about a few North Island regions this afternoon / evening. Rain moves into Southland and South Westland later today.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas with west to southwesterly winds, picking up this afternoon. About the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty there may be a few isolated showers about this afternoon and evening, one or two of which could be heavy.
Highs: 18-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny with some cloud later on, westerly winds breezy from afternoon. About inland areas there is the risk of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening possibly heavy.
Highs: 18-19

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with light winds. Chance of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening, mainly about the ranges of Hawkes Bay and Gisborne.
Highs: 17-19

Wellington

Mainly sunny with breezy north to northwesterly winds developing this afternoon. Some cloud moves in this evening.
High: 16-17

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny with northwesterly winds becoming breezy this afternoon.
Highs: 18-23

Canterbury

Sunny with northwesterly winds, breezy about inland areas. Winds may tend northeast right on the coast.
High: 22

West Coast

Sunny areas with northwesterly winds, cloud thickens from the south then pushes northwards during the day. Rain moves into South Westland in the evening then further north later on.
High: 15

Southland & Otago

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, rain develops early on this evening about Southland as gusty northwest winds change southwest. Rain pushes into Otago later this evening.
Highs: 17-19
