A ridge lies over New Zealand this morning but gets shunted northwards during the day due to a building west to northwesterly airflow over the South Island. Generally the weather around the country is looking settled today with just the chance of a shower here and there.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mostly sunny morning then some cloud builds this afternoon with the chance of an isolated shower any of which clear this evening. Light winds for most.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mainly sunny with light winds, southeasterlies for some die away around midday.

Eastern North Island
Morning cloud breaks to a mostly sunny day, any morning showers clear the Gisborne area. Southwesterly winds gradually ease.
Southerly winds ease and die out this afternoon, morning cloud breaks to a mostly sunny afternoon.

Marlborough & Nelson
Mainly sunny for Marlborough with light winds tending northerly this afternoon. Nelson sees skies mostly cloudy skies but there may be some sun about this morning for a time, light winds.
Morning cloud and any drizzle inland breaks to mostly sunny weather by midday, east to northeast winds develop near the coast. Light winds inland tend northwest.
Mostly cloudy about North Westland, sunny areas further south with developing high cloud. Cloud thickening and lowering for all areas during the afternoon with a few patchy light showers about Buller slowly spreading southwards during the day. Rain moves into Fiordland later in the evening.

Southland & Otago
Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, cloud thickens and lowers from evening with the odd patchy late shower. Northwesterlies build for most however expect light easterlies near the Otago coast.
