A gusty westerly quarter airflow lies over New Zealand today, wet weather mainly about in the west with sunnier weather and warm temperatures out east.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy areas and some sun, chance of a shower or two about. The Bay  Of Plenty is likely to be mostly sunny during the day. Breezy west to southwesterly winds.
High: 15-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Cloudy areas, chance of a shower or two otherwise dry. Brisk west to southwesterly winds .
Highs: 13-14

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with west to northwesterly winds becoming strong this afternoon, winds may gust to gale at times about the Wairarapa and southern Hawkes Bay. Overnight winds change south to southwest bringing some cloud and the chance of a shower.
Highs: 16-18

Wellington

Sunny areas and some cloud with northwesterly winds becoming strong this afternoon, northwesterlies may gust to gale at times. Later this evening winds change southerly with some cloud.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny with west to northwesterly winds becoming gusty at times this afternoon, some high cloud possible. Winds ease overnight possibly tending southwest for a time.
Highs: 15-17

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, northwesterlies become breezy potential strong at times this afternoon inland. Mid to late afternoon winds change southwest with some cloud and the risk of a shower.
Highs: 16-17

West Coast

Rain with heavy falls about South Westland easing to showers this morning. Showers turn to rain this afternoon for North Westland but heavy falls should keep at bay, rain easing back to showers in the evening. Gusty westerly winds.
Highs: 12-13

Southland & Otago

Rain possibly heavy easing to showers this morning then gradually clearing this afternoon / evening. A chance of small hail at times. Winds strong from the west gusting to gale at times about the Southland coastline then easing from evening.
Highs: 9-10
