Clouds finally began to break apart in Auckland late yesterday and into last night.
Now the question is; will they be back before Monday is over?
The answer is; probably.
Clouds will likely bubble up as we go through the morning, leading to a fairly cloudy sky this afternoon. No rain is expected during the morning and afternoon. A few showers are possible as you head into the evening. Winds will be a bit breezy, but should ease off tonight. Highs today will push into the lower 20’s.
For the rest of the North Island, expect a good mix of sun and clouds. It won’t be as windy as it was yesterday. However, there should a bit of breeze.
Rain is a possibility for many of the same folks who saw sun on Sunday. Hawkes Bay, Bay of Plenty both are both running a pretty good risk of seeing rain today. About a 60% chance of getting wet there.
Taranaki and the Waikato could also see rain, although the chance is not as great, about 30%.
Wellington could see rain but the best chance for that is tonight and even then, rain chances are only around 20%.
Highs across the North Island should be in the lower 20’s.
For the South Island, the entire island is looking settled for today. There are some very small chances for a stray shower or two, but I wouldn’t cancel any outdoor plans at this point. Winds will be a bit breezy. Sunshine should be plentiful for everyone except Southland and Otago where clouds will increase during the afternoon hours. The chance for rain also goes up in Southland, but not until after sunset.
Highs across the South Island will range from 18-23 except for central Otago where temps could push into the upper 20’s by late afternoon.

Whangarei today is a beaut summer type day, little wind, blue skies with some puffy white clouds about and very warm.
A good beach day for sure.
May cloud up later but great right now.

Oh no – another cloudy, coldish day looks in store when a fine day was forecast earlier? So much for some lying in the sun.
Why has this weekend turned out so disappointing in Auckland? Also any idea of what to expect next long weekend? Regards

Its a little better today, hazy sunshine,no nagging wind at last, reason we had a SW flow over us and it always brings wind and often cloud. At this stage the systems look nondescript and spaced apart next w/e so not a lot of wind at this stage but settled with cloudy periods.
