A front makes a move onto the lower South Island tonight bringing rain, possible thunderstorms and hail, also some snow to 400m. Further north conditions are fairly calm, showers continue for much of the night about western North Island regions especially north of Taranaki.

Auckland, Northland, Bay Of Plenty & Waikato
Showers at times, one or two could be heavy. The Bay Of Plenty may see a shower or two but otherwise remains fairly dry overnight. Expect west to southwest winds.
Lows tonight: 2-7

Central North Island
The odd shower develops about the Central Plateau this evening bringing a few snow flurries to 700m then clearing overnight with light winds. Clear north of Lake Taupo with light winds.
Lows tonight: -2-0

Eastern North Island
Mainly clear skies overall tonight with light winds. However, there may be an isolated shower or two pass through the Wairarapa this evening and then just on the coast fringe overnight for Hawkes Bay and Gisborne.
Lows tonight: 1-3

Western North Island
Cloudy spells with westerly breezes, chance of a shower or two especially about northern Taranaki where winds tend more southwest.
Lows tonight: 4-6

Wellington
Some cloud this evening with the chance of an isolated shower then clearing. Light southerlies die out overnight.
Lows tonight: 3-4

Marlborough & Nelson
There may be some evening cloud with the risk of an isolated shower then clearing later, light winds. Frosty in sheltered areas.
Lows tonight: -2-1

Canterbury
Any isolated showers with a chance of hail clearing this evening, light southerlies die out. Becoming quite frosty overnight.
Lows tonight: -4-3

West Coast
Rain, heavy with thunderstorms, hail and snow to 400m develops this evening about Fiordland then pushes north into South Westland overnight. Remaining dry further north with clearer skies for now.
Lows tonight: 2-4

Coastal Otago
Clear skies this evening with some high cloud developing later, light winds. Overnight a westerly change brings a few brief showers, chance of some hail and a few snow flurries to 400m.
Lows tonight: 2-3

Central Otago
Showers develop later this evening with west to northwest winds, expect snow to 400m.
Lows tonight: -2-0

Southland
Showers develop this evening with west to northwest winds, snow flurries to 400m.
Low tonight: 2
