A front clears off to the east of the North Island overnight, rain gradually clears as it moves away. Rain lingering a bit longer about eastern Bay Of Plenty overnight bringing heavy falls and possible thunderstorms before clearing. Meaning another front moves north along the West Coast of the South Island bringing showers, heavy with thunderstorms. Clearer skies out east with some high cloud.

Auckland & Northland
Rain eases then clears this evening, strong northerlies change more moderate northwest.
Tonight’s Lows: 10-12

Bay Of Plenty

Areas of rain with the odd heavy fall clearing by midnight, rain moving
into eastern Bay Of Plenty mid evening with heavy falls and thunderstorms
possible then clearing overnight. Northerlies change northwest once rain
clears.
Tonight’s Lows: 10-11

Waikato & Central North Island

Rain, heavy in areas then clearing mid to late evening. Clear spells
overnight with northwesterlies.
Tonight’s Lows: 8-10

Eastern North Island

Thick high cloud, some rain clearing the Wairarapa this evening. A few
spells of rain developing this evening further north then clearing by midnight.
Northerlies tend northwest overnight and skies clearing up.
Tonight’s Lows: 9-10

Western North Island

Remaining rain clearing this evening with clear spells developing, the odd
shower may remain about coastal fringes and Taranaki. Northwesterlies.
Tonight’s Lows: 9-11

Wellington

Areas of cloud with the odd shower possible, northwesterlies. Showers more
likely around dawn tomorrow.
Tonight’s Lows: 11-12

Nelson

Periods of cloud with northerly winds, a few showers move through
overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-8

Marlborough

Clear spells and some high cloud, west to northwest winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 6-7

Canterbury

Areas of high cloud developing this evening, showers may spread into the
foothills at times from later this evening then clearing overnight. Light winds
near the coast, breezy northwesterlies inland easing overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 4-6

West Coast

Showers, heavy with thunderstorms then easing towards dawn tomorrow.
Northerlies change southwest overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 7

Coastal Otago

Mainly clear with some high cloud, light winds.
Tonight’s Low: 5

Central Otago

Cloudy areas with occasional showers, mainly in the west, drier out east.
West to northwest winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 2-3

Southland

Periods of cloud with northwesterlies, winds change westerly later this
evening bringing a few showers.
Tonight’s Lows: 3-4
