A depression lies over the North Island however most of the action packed weather is out to the east, meanwhile a ridge sits over the South Island. Watch for fog patches developing in many areas again tonight.

Northland, Auckland & Waikato
Clear spells to start although some low cloud or fog develops overnight mainly about and south of Auckland, winds will be light tending southerly mainly.
Lows tonight: 5-9

Central North Island, Bay Of Plenty
Clear spells and some cloud with light winds, showers about the Central North Island clear then fog patches are possible there overnight.
Lows tonight: 7-9

Eastern North Island
Mainly cloudy with light winds, areas of rain or showers heavy at times mainly about Gisborne.
Lows tonight: 8-10

Western North Island
Clear spells and some cloud, east to southeast breezes.
Lows tonight: 8-9

Wellington
Cloudy areas, low cloud or fog may develop. Southerly breezes.
Low tonight: 10-11

Marlborough & Nelson
Fairly cloudy about Marlborough tonight, clearer skies about Nelson with light winds.
Lows tonight: 6-7

Canterbury
Low cloud or fog about for many tonight, clear to start for some inland areas although fog patches move in later.
Low tonight: 3-4

West Coast
Mainly clear skies, light winds.
Lows tonight: 5-7

Southland & Otago
Light winds with low cloud or fog patches developing for some mainly about coastal and Central Otago. Southland may remain fairly clear although expect some high cloud.
Low tonight: -2-5

some spectacular lightning east of Hamilton. Only about 1 strike/minute but from where we are it is pretty neat and driving our dog nuts
