Rain sets in about Canterbury later this evening while a low organises in the Tasman Sea. Winds tend northerly overnight for most in the North Island as a front approaches the west ready to move over during the afternoon tomorrow.
Auckland & Northland
Clear spells and some cloud, west to southwest winds ease this evening then tend northerly overnight.
Lows tonight: 10-12
Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Clear with some cloud, westerly breezes tend northerly overnight.
Lows tonight: 6-10
Eastern North Island
Mainly clear with some high cloud overnight, light winds. A few isolated showers about the Hawkes Bay and Gisborne ranges clear this evening.
Lows tonight: 9-10
Western North Island
Clear spells and some cloud, cloud increases overnight for most with the odd shower about Kapiti and northern Taranaki. North to northeasterly winds.
Low tonight: 9-11
Wellington
Fairly cloudy with northerly winds, chance of a shower by dawn tomorrow.
Low tonight: 12
Marlborough & Nelson
Areas of cloud increase overnight, east to northeast winds ease this evening. Showers possible by dawn.
Lows tonight: 9-10
Canterbury
The odd shower or drizzle patch turning to rain later this evening, east to southeasterly winds. Snow lowering to 600m overnight with heavy falls of snow above this level.

West Coast
Rain about North Westland with northeasterlies, a few heavy falls possible. South Westland mainly dry overnight.

Any showers clear later this evening with southwesterlies easing, areas of cloud overnight.
