A west to southwesterly airflow eases over the country tonight as a big depression to the east of the North Island gradually starts moving away to the east. It could become quite chilly for some parts of the South Island as a weak ridge forms bringing clearing skies. Meanwhile a front and low combination are getting organised in the Tasman Sea and will be something to look out for tomorrow evening for most of the country, especially in the west.

Central North Island, Waikato, Auckland & Northland
Cloudy spells with breezy west to southwest winds. Showers and and hail easing this evening and overnight about Auckland and the Waikato. For the Central North Island expect the odd shower for northwestern parts of the district clearing by dawn tomorrow. About Northland expect showers to ease there this evening becoming few and far between.
Lows tonight: 4-11

Bay Of Plenty
Areas of cloud with west to southwest breezes easing up a little this evening, any showers clear this evening also.
Low tonight: 8

Eastern North Island
Cloudy spells with the odd shower possible, mainly about the Wairarapa coastline. Gusty southwesterly winds ease a little overnight.
Low tonight: 6-7

Western North Island
Cloudy spells with the odd shower, mainly dry however. West to southwest winds. Showers more likely about northern Taranaki.
Lows tonight: 6-9

Wellington
Cloudy areas breaking up a little overnight, showers mostly clearing this evening although there may be a remaining shower overnight. Brisk southerlies ease.
Lows tonight: 7-8

Nelson
Skies becoming clear overnight, light winds tend southwest.
Low tonight: 4

Marlborough
Cloudy areas clearing overnight, light winds tend southwest.
Lows tonight: 2-3

Canterbury
A few clear spells develop this evening, still expect some cloud about. Southwesterlies ease this evening. Low chance of a fog patch around dawn tomorrow.
Lows tonight: 1-2

West Coast
Mainly clear with light winds, some cloud develops during the night however.
Lows tonight: 4-7

Southland & Otago
Skies clear or becoming clear this evening, light winds from the north. There could be a fog patch or two develop overnight.
Lows tonight: -1-4
