Temperatures overnight were quite bouyant with only one or 2 centres dropping into single figures.
Paraparaumu has been down as low as 5 degrees and Wanganui just slipped below double figures on 9 degrees otherwise the teens were commonplace up and down the country.
A relatively mild day is expected across the country today with perhaps the east of the North island getting the coolest conditions, with some patchy rain or a few showers obscuring the sun.
Winds will generally be gentle breezes about the coasts but these will run out of puff further inland where the temperatures should be slightly higher.
The thirties could be topped again in Central Otago again both today and tomorrow, as the autumnal sun blazes away.
