Mild afternoon for most but not all

> From the WeatherWatch archives

It’s another mild afternoon across most of New Zealand as the edge of a high continues to fuel windy conditions in many areas.

In Dunedin it’s 16 degrees with a breezy  nor’easter.    A string of 14s and 15s spread right up the country including Christchurch, Wellington, Palmerston North, Wanganui, New Plymouth, Auckland and Whangarei.

However some less sheltered places from the wind coming off the sea aren’t as warm.  Whangaparaoa has 13 this hour along with Tauranga, Gisborne and Hastings and Napier has 12.

Colder still are Rotorua and Taupo on 10 (9 last hour) while Timaru has just 7.

Gales are still affect the Far North with gusts 76km/h, down from 100km/h yesterday.  Winds have also eased in Auckland with gusts to 50km/h down from 70km/h yesterday.

Northerlies are also gusting to 50km/h in Wellington.
