May is officially the last month of Autumn and how does the first 3 weeks of the month ticked along so far?.
Have you noticed more sunny days than usual or has it been cloudy from time to time with coolish breezes?.
A few frosts have certainly been around which is expected for the time of year but in many places it seems rainfall totals have been near average if not a little drier than usual.
Autumn leaves have been falling but were a majority gone before the month started where you are or have they yet to fully let go?.
We’d like to know how it’s been in your neck of the woods and we’re just ten days away of winter getting underway in our part of the world.

I think May has been pretty good overall in Invercargill i noticed this morning we are way down on the rainfall but that could still change we still have a few days left. The weather has been quite nice really which my mum tells me was often the case when we had the old may school holidays. Haven’t had as many good frosts here yet but we normally have a good run of them in late june early july so hoping that happens we haven’t had it the last few years. Have noticed a definite change in the temperatures though these last few days it just feels cooler out and the days seem to get cooler alot faster.

May in Wellsford, Lower Northland has been pretty good to the rural folk. First two weeks was very pleasant but the last few days have been a lot cooler and wetter. Very average rainfall month to date (117mils). Some farmers still sowing manure on drier ground. Local talk is of a challenging winter ahead.

Apart from a cloudy and wetter week last week – not a great deal of rain either and we still need a lot more – the weather has been relatively settled with more sun, warmer temperatures and less wind.

I definately think May has been sunnier than normal. Certainly here in the Waikato anyway. Cheers Dave
