Low pressure will spread over the North Island bringing rain and showers to all regions Wednesday while a high spreads in to the South Island.
The low will see a band of rain or showers spreading in overnight Tuesday and during Wednesday morning with conditions quickly improving by Thursday.
The South Island’s high won’t bring especially settled weather Wednesday with rain or showers for northern regions first thing and a few showers possible in Southland and coastal Otago. Elsewhere there’ll be a mix of sun and cloud.
By Thursday the high should spread over the South Island but typically unpredictable winter weather patterns may now change the forecast for the end of the week.
A strong cold southerly may now spread over the South Island on Friday and Saturday into the North Island for Sunday. It should still mean sunny skies for northern centres.

There’s a good chance it could be polar – directly from Antarctica – arriving Sunday/Monday. Very cold!
Cheers
