A burst of wind and rain is moving up the country this long weekend and although most places don’t look too bad we do have heavy rain, gales and some mountain snow.
The bulk of the rough weather is around the South Island and Cook Strait areas. The North Island, especially further north, has fairly benign weather but warms up nicely over the next 48 hours.
Rain will be heavy along the West Coast on Sunday in particular. Gusty winds will be gale around Cook Strait and through the Southern Alps.
