It’s been a bitterly cold day across the Waikato today. At 11am it was still just 3 degrees and while it’s warmed up to 6 degrees this hour it’s now raining.
Hamilton’s 6 degrees matches Taupo and Waiouru this hour – the cold air in Waikato was caused by a freezing night then cloud cover first thing this morning, not allowing for any heating from the sun.
6 degrees is also being reported in Dunedin and Gore this hour with 7 in Queenstown, Kaikoura, Akaroa, Levin and Hawera.

I am somewhat disappointed in these southerlies chch has been getting. Im am after a bit of snow for chch for once. last year or was it the year before we got a wee bit on the coldest day that settled. What are your early thoughts for this southerly due on sunday for the cantab plains? Mind you im going fishing on sunday so I might not appreciate the cold.
