Intense rain sees trouble in Auckland

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A deluge across parts of Auckland in places this afternoon is seeing some areas affected by floodwaters.

West Auckland appears to be hardest hit however other parts of the city are also struggling to keep up with the heavy downpours.

Some roads are marginal during the heaviest downpours and a few homes are surrounded by floodwaters such as Don Buck Drive, West Auckland.

Other areas across the upper North Island have also been on the receiving end of some big dumps and are likely to continue for the rest of the afternoon.

Wellington is also seeing significant rain and winds driving in from the south. These conditions are likely to persist or even intensify futher this afternoon and tonight.

Christchurch has been wet and cold all day and a nippy southerly has seen temperatures remain in single figures.

The North Island should see the worst of the conditions either this afternoon or tonight/ overnight with a gradual easing during Wednesday.

Pouring down in Hamilton at 3pm. Could be flooding here if this continues for some time. Very dark as well it feels more like 5.30 rather than 3

Cheers

Well after a pretty quiet day here in Whitby, within the past 30 minutes the light Northerly has been replaced by an almost gale and gusty Southerly, and the rain has picked up too.
Don’t you just love it 🙂
