More heavy afternoon downpours are expected across New Zealand over the next few days, some with isolated thunderstorms – possibly severe.
Daytime heating with highs inland reaching into the 30s will combine with moisture in the air to create cloudy areas morning and night and the chance of heavy afternoon downpours which will form through the interior of both islands, then may drift towards coastlines or more populated places later in the afternoon.
Most downpours that develop will ease again by evening.
This pattern remains until about Sunday.
