Today a high sits over the South Island while a south to southeasterly airflow lies over the North. A large anticyclone lies over the country on Thursday then northwesterlies develop over the South Island on Friday with a ridge further north.
Wednesday
Blue – A chilly start about the central South Island. No frosts likely however temperatures start in the low single figures for some.
Purple – Gusty southerlies about coastal parts of the east and western North Island ease during the day.
Thursday
Yellow – Temperatures reaching into the mid 20’s for the areas in yellow below, perhaps even into the high 20’s about Central Otago.
Friday
Yellow – Afternoon high’s in the mid to high 20’s for the east of New Zealand due to a northwesterly airflow.
