Anticyclonic conditions for most today although weak low pressure lies over the upper North Island. A subtropical feed brings some heavy rain to the North Island’s east coast for a time on Wednesday then unstable conditions in the afternoon inland while the South Island continues to sit under a ridge of high pressure. A ridge for the upper North Island on Thursday, a low slowly move away to the east from the lower North Island meanwhile a gentle northwesterly airflow gradually develops over the south.
Tuesday
Blue – Afternoon showers about southern Auckland, the Waikato and inland Bay Of Plenty may become heavy with a low risk of thunderstorms then easing in the evening.
Overnight some rain moves into the Gisborne region with the chance of heavy falls by dawn on Wednesday.
Yellow – High’s reaching into the mid 20’s for the areas marked below.
There may be a touch of fog to start the day about the Waikato.
Wednesday
Blue – Some rain for the east coast of the North Island eases during the afternoon.
For inland areas showers in the afternoon becoming heavy with a risk of thunderstorms then easing later in the evening.
Yellow – Afternoon high’s reaching into the mid 20’s.
Thursday
Blue – Some morning rain about Wellington and Wairarapa eases away. Overnight or perhaps more towards dawn on Friday and incoming front brings some heavy rain to the far south.
Yellow – Afternoon high’s comfortably reaching into the mid 20’s for the areas marked in yellow below.
