A front pushes northwards over the South Island on Tuesday then the North Island on Wednesday bringing in a cool southwest change. Another front lines up the South Island for Thursday while it’s mainly settled further north.

Tuesday

Yellow – High’s reaching into the mid twenties for some places today, high twenties for the eastern North Island.

Purple – A southwest change pushes northwards over the South Island during the day, winds will be strong about coastal areas as this change moves through reaching Wellington later in the evening. During the day westerlies are a bit brisk about the lower western North Island near the coast. And while not depicted below northwesterlies may become a little gusty about the inner South Island before the southwest change moves through.

Rain pushes northwards along the West Coast of the South Island during the day, it may be briefly heavy for a time.

Wednesday

Yellow – Afternoon high’s reaching into the mid twenties on Wednesday for parts of the upper North Island, also some South Island areas.

Purple – Strong south to southwesterly winds about eastern areas (mainly the coastal fringes), easing later in the day.

Thursday

Some rain pushes northwards along the West Coast of the South Island during the day, it may be briefly heavy for a time. Temperatures reaching into the mid to late twenties for the eastern South Island northwards.
