An anticyclone slowly weakens over New Zealand today meanwhile a low brews in the Tasman Sea flinging out a warm front which moves onto the West Coast of the South Island overnight. A northeasterly airflow increases on Saturday as the Tasman Sea low deepens. Wet northeasterlies cover the country on Sunday.
Friday
Blue – Still the chance of a light frost again this morning, only just, for inner parts of the South Island.
Low risk of a heavy isolated shower about some upper North Island areas this afternoon (mainly South Auckland, Waikato and inland Bay Of Plenty).
Saturday
Blue – Areas of rain along the West Coast may be heavy at times, easing later in the evening. Rain about Nelson / Marlborough becoming heavy late afternoon or evening, Nelson in particular sees the heaviest falls.
Sunday
Conditions ease a little on Sunday however there may still be the odd heavy fall about the top of the South Island. A chance of heavy rain about the Bay Of Plenty during the day also.
