A front moves over the North Island this morning clearing out to the east this afternoon, the South Island has a weak area of low pressure covering most regions. Thursday sees a southwesterly airflow then on Friday conditions may become unstable.
Wednesday
Blue – Some morning heavy rain for Taranaki / Central North Island then easing.
Eastern Bay Of Plenty may see heavy falls and thunderstorms developing this morning then easing from early afternoon.
About the interior of the South Island isolated showers develop this afternoon one or two of which could be heavy however thunderstorms are not looking as likely now.
Finally overnight another front moves onto South Westland overnight bringing heavy showers and possible thunderstorms with hail.
Thursday
Blue – From early afternoon a south to southwest change triggers heavy showers and a risk of hail for the eastern South Island, only a low chance of a thunderstorm however.
Purple – Brisk to strong westerly winds afternoon and evening about parts of the lower North Island.
Friday
Blue – Isolated showers about inland areas of the eastern South Island may become heavy with thunderstorms and hail in the afternoon then easing later in the evening.
From afternoon heavy showers and possible thunderstorms may affect the lower North Island in the west then easing in the evening.
