Today high pressure lies over the North Island while a northerly airflow increases over the South Island, a front pushes onto the South Island on Tuesday then onto the North Island later in the evening / overnight. This front gradually clears the North Island on Wednesday.
Monday
Blue – Isolated showers may develop this afternoon about the Bay Of Plenty through to Northland, the Bay Of Plenty in particular inland may see one or two showers turn heavy with the low risk of a thunderstorm.
Purple – East to northeaterly winds becoming gusty this afternoon about the east coast of the South Island, perhaps even strong for some. Strong northeasterlies develop this afternoon about coastal Fiordland also.
Tuesday
Blue – Heavy rain gradually pushes northwards along the West Coast of the South Island during the day reaching Nelson through to Taranaki later in the evening / overnight.
Purple – Strong northeasterlies about coastal South Westland ease after midday.
Wednesday
Blue – Some morning heavy rain for Taranaki / Central North Island and eastern Bay Of Plenty eases.
Isolated showers develop about the Nelson / Marlborough region in the afternoon a few of which could be heavy then easing in the evening.
