Northwesterlies develop on Wednesday with a front moving into western regions late afternoon / evening.

Sunny spells about Northland and Auckland, cloud thickens from late afternoon then expect some late evening rain. The Waikato and Bay Of Plenty is mostly cloudy with a shower or two then some evening rain moves in. Rain eases overnight. West to northwesterly winds.

Cloudy areas with a shower or two possible about the lower western North Island, rain moves in during the evening then easing overnight. West to northwesterly winds, breezy about Taranaki. Mostly sunny along the east coast, high cloud increases from afternoon. Expect a few late evening spots of rain then clearing overnight. Westerly winds.

Sunny areas and increasing cloud for Wellington, rain later in the evening for a time. Northwesterly winds increase.

Mostly sunny with some high cloud increasing from afternoon about Nelson and Marlborough, late afternoon rain moves into Nelson then Marlborough late evening. Rain clears overnight. North to northwesterly winds pick up in the afternoon.

Mainly sunny for Canterbury with some high cloud, evening spots of rain possible. Northerly winds, tending more northeast about the coast.

A few showers then some rain from afternoon along the West Coast, easing later in the evening as northeasterly winds change northwest. Cloud thickens from morning about Southland and Otago, a few spells of rain move through in the afternoon then clearing evening, more so about Southland but Otago has a chance of rain in the evening. Northerly winds tend northwest later on.

Blue – Heavy form of precipitation or cold temperatures, typically below 1 to 2 degrees celsius.
White – Snow
Purple – Strong winds.
Yellow – Temperatures around the mid 20 degree mark or over.
