InfoGraphic: The Big Picture on Wednesday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A front moves over the upper South Island in the morning then over the North Island as a whole during the afternoon, the airflow is from the northwest preceding the front then changing southwest in behind.

For the upper North Island expect the chance of a shower, showers more likely in the afternoon as northwest winds change southwest. Some sun possible late in the day. A very similar story for the lower North Island in the west.

Thick high cloud in the east, chance of an evening shower about the Wairarapa. Winds from the northwest.

Rain for North Westland and Buller eases to showers by midday. A mix of sun, cloud and the odd shower further south. Rain moves into Nelson late morning then into Marlborough early afternoon, north to northwesterly winds change southwest with precipitation clearing Nelson mid afternoon and Marlborough by evening.

Rain or showers about Canterbury ease from afternoon, perhaps some sun even breaking through. Showers clear later in the evening or overnight. Sunny spells about Southland and Otago, a few showers also mainly early morning then again in the afternoon before clearing later in the day, winds from the southwest.

Not all regions and towns have been mentioned above. For specific 10 day information for your city, town, rural community or island please see the 1500 forecasts on our homepage!
