A front passes over New Zealand first thing tomorrow morning with a strong westerly airflow coming in behind. The airflow over the eastern South Island tends southwest in the afternoon.

For the upper North Island, first thing early in the morning there may be some heavy rain but it quickly eases to showers. Auckland northwards and the Bay Of Plenty may become fairly dry by midday with sunny spells and gusty westerlies.

Morning rain or showers for the east coast (Gisborne to Wairarpa) and Wellington then breaking to mostly sunny weather in the afternoon.

Morning rain for Nelson, Marlborough and down through to Mid Canterbury clearing then expect some sun. Showers or rain about South Canterbury pushes northwards into the rest of Canterbury by midday with a southwest change which is strong about Banks Peninsula.

Morning rain (possibly heavy) for the West Coast of the South Island then easing to the odd shower, rain picks up again overnight. Rain for Southland and Otago eases to the odd shower during the morning, some sun possible also then overnight further rain moves into Southland.
