A ridge lies over the North Island on Wednesday while a northwesterly airflow builds over the South Island.
A mix of sun and cloud for Northland, low risk of a shower or two late afternoon / evening then clearing away. Auckland has mainly sunny weather however there may be a few clouds about. For the rest of the North Island it’s a mainly sunny day, just watch for a fog patch or two in the morning (especially inland) then breaking away.
The West Coast of the South Island is mainly cloudy, a few drizzle patches about. Sunnier in the east with some high cloud increasing during the day. Winds are light for most although northerlies are gusty about coastal Fiordland from afternoon.
Some parts of inland Canterbury reach into the early 20’s during the afternoon. Both islands see a few cool spots to start the day inland, around the 1 to 3 degree mark before the day marches on.
Blue – Heavy form of precipitation.
Purple – Strong winds.
Yellow – Temperatures around the mid 20 degree mark or over.
Not all regions and towns have been mentioned above. For specific 10 day information for your city, town, rural community or island please see the 1500 forecasts on our homepage!
