A front lingers over Northland on Wednesday, reinvigorating later on with some heavy rain possible meanwhile the South Island sits under a ridge of high pressure.
Northland sees areas of rain, possibly heavy from late afternoon. Light winds tend southeasterly after midday.
Auckland and the Coromandel see any early showers clear then cloud breaks to some sun in the afternoon, winds from the south or southwest. Morning cloud about the Waikato and Tuaranga breaks to some sun, winds from the south or southwest, afternoon northerlies possible for the Bay Of Plenty.
Mainly sunny weather elsewhere for the North Island, perhaps some high cloud. Gisborne sees cloudy skies break to some sun in the afternoon. Afternoon high’s in the mid 20’s for the areas marked in yellow below.
The South Island is mainly sunny, any morning cloud clears for the West Coast. Morning showers about South Westland clear away. A few morning showers for Southland then some sun, a mix of sun and cloud for Otago with breezy west to southwesterly winds.
Blue – Heavy form of precipitation.
Purple – Strong winds.
Yellow – Temperatures around the mid 20 degree mark or over.
