The airflow tends southeasterly across the North Island on Wednesday with a front feeding into the northeast of the Island hooked into a low which is centred near Northland. The South Island is calmer with a light southerly airflow.
The North Island has a mostly cloudy day, morning showers mostly clear Northland then clearing Auckland late afternoon. Showers for most other places about from the Wellington region and parts of Wairarapa / Taranaki. Rain in the morning about the Bay Of Plenty, Coromandel and perhaps the Waikato may be heavy then easing. Gisborne sees rain for much of the day.
The South Island has a similar pattern of cloud in the east and sunnier conditions out west, parts of Canterbury may see some sun to start the day however especially the further south you go then cloud thickens up from afternoon. Drizzle or the odd shower moves into Canterbury later in the day.
Not all regions and towns have been mentioned above. For specific 10 day information for your city, town, rural community or island please see the 1000 forecasts on our homepage!
